Sine qua non* page

As lawyers are known for liking to speak incomprehensibly and use Latin, we didn't want to disappoint.

The Partners

This is by way of a thank you to those people without whom we simply could not have started George Carter LLP, and to those who contribute to the firm's well-being today

As you will see, we wanted to retain our Thanks page. Many of those mentioned in it continue to provide us with the professional service to our business needs with the same care and attention that secured our start up. Various changes have led us to mention a few further names, which we have added as:-

Personae Gratae

As Wikipedia has it – "Persona non grata (Latin, plural:- personae non gratae - also abbreviated PNG) literally meaning "an unwelcome person" is a term used in diplomacy with a specialised and legally defined meaning. The opposite of persona non grata is persona grata"

Some persons most welcome at George Carter LLP's offices at 11-13 Bream's Buildings, in no particular order.

Brendan and Gerry Twomey and Allyn Miller of Asset Interiors for achieving the miraculous conversion of 11-13 Breams Buildings from "Where's Wally?" cartoon to our modern new office space - all within a completely unrealistic timetable.

John Wyatt, and Brett Sumner of WCJ for unstinting attention to detail and monitoring the 11-13 project for us - and, especially, Nick Cowle for service above and beyond the call of duty when he stuck his head down a sewer pipe to ascertain the cause of the mysterious damp.

Simon Browne for finding us Steven Dale - not to mention words of wisdom on matters legal and commercial.

Jon Batt of Farebrother for managing our building against all the odds.

Bill Stott cartoonist extraordinaire for finding something humorous to say on the unpromising topic of charge out rates, Christmas greeting apposite (we hope) to hard times – and to enliven our forthcoming email updaters.

Our staff - seen here celebrating our anniversary at Newmarket

and thanks to our originals - in no particular order:

For our branding , stationery design and this website - neoco

Julian Hind For finding us a temporary home, where we could save on removal costs and carry our worldly goods up the road - Julian Hind and Farebrother ("Number 1 Mid-Town Agent of 2006" egi) (Top FOCUS’s League Report for lettting deals in Midtown and the top independent agency in 2008 to contact for those seeking new space)

and Robert Jenkins of Delancey

Stacy Botha For designing our great space - Asset Interiors.

Alex Peers and, especially, for all the hands - on help, instant response, text mesages and tea and sympathy, Stacey - "it's a Sign" - Botha

Steve Nelms and Mike Townson of Oval Insurance Brokers. No task, or firm requirement, too small - nor any request, however unreasonable, not complied with immediately

Richard Taylor, Alex Millbank and Laura Farrelly and Clare Roche and the team at Child & Co, the perfect Bank support

Geoff Bedingfield of Baker Tilly LLP, who combines the impossible in being a great accountant and understanding us

Serle Court Chambers - Steve and Terry and their "team" for support, especially Nicholas Asprey for old friendship, Andrew Bruce for wide-ranging advice - and, of course, John Whittaker for introducing us to the mysteries of our new state of LLP-dom

Ashley FranklinAshley Franklin - our photographer, who took some great photographs and managed to make us look normal

Mike Morton at Fluor for help and advice and our magnificent furniture

Joe McCready - for everything

Richard Cotton - for his introduction to many of those above and shed-loads of champagne

Our IT support people

Cliff Barrett of Cushman Wakefield for patiently explaining as to how our services work...

Sue Purdy and Janet Spence of AXXIA for getting us up and running on time recording (for which clients may be slightly less grateful)

Terry Elwell of Legal docs for our excellent document management system.

And David Brilliant - for corporate support and guidance - and the Miskin protocol

And, finally, like the Oscar speeches,

Our family and friends (especially Mrs. Vickers, who came all the way from Salisbury to bring us home-made cake and sandwiches in time of great need)

And , of course, our clients, thank you for instructing us.
